5 out of 5 stars Great for driving - complete hand protection   September 13, 2009

I use the light beige ones as driving gloves. They provide complete protection, much better than a sunblock ever could. And anyone who drives knows that during long drives your hands just lay out there in the sun, for hours, slowly getting dried and fried, with long-term and irreversible sun damage. The skin on my hands has clearly improved since I've had them! I love these gloves and can highly recommend them.

Coolibar UPF 50+ Full-Finger Gloves - Sun Protection
Spending two weeks white water rafting through the Grand Canyon can leave your skin burnt and cracked as I know from my 4 previous trips. These gloves were wonderful. They saved me from constant applications of sunblock lotion and allowed for more time observing the awesome grandeur of the mighty GC. Thank you.

5 out of 5 stars Comfortable, cool   July 30, 2010

I bought these for driving and wasn't sure how cool they would be in Dallas heat. So far, they have been great, though I make sure to switch on the AC before I
put them on. Temps will be in the 100's this week so it will be the biggest test, but I think the sun protection will be worth it. Just remove them before receiving change at toll booths because it can slip through the hole!

4 out of 5 stars great sun protection   July 26, 2010

These gloves offer excellent protection from the sun, and are light-weight and comfortable. Although i don't think the "open" configuration of the palm is necessary, it does provide a "window" to allow extra cooling of the hands when held over a car A/C vent. The gloves are cool enough during use that such a maneuver is not necessary. The cloves cover the hands and wrist. If combined with a long sleeve shirt the gloves provide complete sun protection to the back of the hands. I would have personally preferred gloves without the large hole in the palm, but still love using them whenever I drive, consciously avoiding exposure on the palm. It is amazing how much sun exposure we get on our hands during driving, and the gloves help a great deal. This is important for preventing cancer as well as photoaging. As regards the latter: the hands are as important as the face in terms of subjective assessment of age (spots, wrinkles, coloration, changes in texture). People who drive a lot get much more sun exposure on their left sides. It's not a bad idea to supplement the gloves with a long sleeve shirt during driving...you can keep one in the car and wear it like a jacket.
